Attorney Jesse Bopp is dedicated to helping clients protect their assets, minimize estate and gift tax on death, and ensure their wishes are carried out by someone they can trust. In addition to preparing or reviewing wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and living wills, Jesse also advises on asset protection techniques, reviews client investments, and helps guide retirement planning.
Real Estate is prominent in many estate plans, and Jesse brings extensive experience in this area. When not handling real estate in estate plans, asset protection or retirement plans, Jesse regularly represents clients in For Sale By Owner transactions, reviews title work, easement, and boundary issues, and prepares deeds.
Business Law issues also appear in many retirement and estate plans. And a client's business is often the primary asset to protect. So, whether its succession planning, buying or selling business assets, exiting a shareholder, member or partner, buying into a business, or retirement plan options for small businesses, Jesse has successfully represented clients on these issues.

Professional:
Jesse began his practice in 2005 with a focus on estate planning, asset protection, conservatorships, guardianships, probate and trust administration. His practice also included significant real estate and business law. Jesse is well versed in small business operations, particularly LLCs taxed as S Corporations, real estate holding entities, and retirement plan options for small businesses.
After building a successful solo practice from 2005-2012, Jesse was the founding partner of a small Firm employing civil and criminal counsel from 2012-2017. In 2018, he transitioned from private practice to serve as Vice President and Trustee for a corporate fiduciary with clients in Durango and Telluride, CO. In 2024, Jesse chose to return to private practice, emphasizing business, real estate and estate planning matters.
Personal:
Born in New York, and raised in Georgia, Jesse journeyed north to earn a bachelor's in wildlife biology from the University of Alaska - Fairbanks, staying for several years to conduct studies in Denali National Park, the Bering Straits, and North Slope. He then went east to earn a master's degree in stream and river ecology from West Virginia University, and finally a law degree from the University of Wyoming. Jesse is warm and personable, a somewhat unique trait for attorneys, and cares about his clients. He enjoys skiing, hiking, adventure motorcycling, camping, time with family, and history.
Service Summary
Jesse received the Southwest Colorado Bar Ethics Nomination in 2006, the Durango Herald's Readers' Choice Award for Best Lawyer / Attorney in 2013, and runner-up in 2014. From 2018-2024, he served as Vice President on an award-winning Wealth Management team offering fiduciary investment and trust services, ColoradoBiz Magazine, 2020-2023.
Jesse believes in community service and has served on many Boards since 2008, such as the Durango Arts Center, and Durango Nature Studies n/k/a San Juan Mountains Association. He is the immediate past President of the Southwest Colorado Bar Association, and a Colorado Bar Foundation Fellow.
